How Creators and Freelancers Cash Out with Minisend
·4 min readFrom onchain earnings to spendable money
If you are paid in stablecoins, the earning part is solved. Tips, client invoices, grants, and retainers all arrive onchain without anyone's permission. The awkward part comes later: rent, groceries, and school fees are not priced in USDC.
Minisend is the step between those two. Here is the whole flow.
Step by step
1. Open Minisend
Go to app.minisend.xyz from any browser. No download, no install, no extension.
2. Send your stablecoins
You get one 0x deposit address, and it is the same string on every chain. Send USDC from any of 19 EVM chains, or USDT from any of 14, plus Solana. Minisend works out which chain it came from.
There is nothing to bridge and no network to select. Deposits credit as spendable USDC in roughly a minute.
3. Let it sit, or settle it
This is the part most people miss. Nothing converts on arrival. Your money stays as USDC in a single balance and earns 5.7% APY while it sits there, with no staking step and no lock-up. See automated yield on Minisend balances.
Settle when you actually need the local currency, not the moment the payment lands.
4. Choose your payout
Settle part or all of the balance to:
- M-Pesa, Buy Goods till, or Paybill in Kenya (KES)
- Bank transfer in Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, and Uganda
- Mobile money in Ghana (GHS) and Uganda (UGX)
You see the exact amount you will receive, and the fee, before you confirm.
5. Receive your money
M-Pesa payouts arrive in about ten seconds. Bank and mobile money transfers take five to thirty minutes.
Practical notes
- Don't settle everything at once. Settle what you need this week and leave the rest earning. Partial settlement is the default, not a special case.
- Small payments are fine. There is no minimum that rules out a $5 tip.
- Rates move. Minisend shows the current rate before you confirm, not after.
- It runs on weekends. Mobile money does not keep banking hours, and neither does this.
Going the other way
The same rails run in reverse. If you need to top up rather than cash out, you can buy USDC with M-Pesa or Airtel Money and it lands in the same balance you settle out of.
